Many people want to improve their dental aesthetics, but they don’t have a ton of time to commit to treatment. Veneers are a great cosmetic treatment option, because using them you can achieve a total smile transformation in just two or three dental appointments. What are veneers?
Veneers are individually crafted, exceptionally thin dental restorations. Veneers are designed to fit over your natural teeth; once they are bonded in place, they can completely transform the appearance of your smile. Veneers are made of porcelain, which is shaded to blend with your natural enamel.
What is the treatment process like?
Our Saint Louis dentists work with a master ceramist to craft veneers that are sized, shaped, and shaded to meet your needs. We begin by prepping your smile, taking impressions, and snapping some pictures. Then, we place temporary restorations that are essentially the “first draft” of your permanent veneers. This is a critical step; once we see your temporary crowns in place, and you live with them for a bit, we will be able to make any necessary tweaks prior to placing your permanent veneers.
Once your veneers are finished, you will come back into the office so that our team can attach your veneers to your natural teeth. Veneers, once bonded to your existing tooth structure, stay in place permanently; you can eat, drink, and clean your smile normally.
Because veneers are naturally stain-resistant, you don’t have to worry about them losing their aesthetic appeal over time. If you want to whiten your natural enamel, it is important to do this prior to veneer treatment, so that we can shade the porcelain of your veneer to match your new tooth shade.
